It’s in your palm. There’s room enough

Facts about Famous Movies that will Blow Your Mind

We all have our set of favorite movies that we cannot help but watch again and again because it has left an impact on our minds and hearts. But would they still be our favorite if the lead stars were different? Or the ending was twisted or even if the title name was changed? I don’t think so.

Here are some facts about famous movies that will blow your mind. Although these facts will not make these movies any less important, knowing them can give you something to think about.

1.     The Breakfast Club

The first name thought for the movie ‘The Breakfast Club’ was ‘The Detention’. The movie was shot in a high school gymnasium instead of a library where the group had to serve their detention. To create the set of the library, around 10,000 books were used, which was donated by the Chicago Public Library. At first, it was decided that John Cusack would play the role of Bender. However, later, the role was give to Judd Nelson. In the end of the movie, John Hughes played a small part as Brian’s father. Anthony Michael Hall’s actual mother and sister played the character of Brian’s mother and sister.

2.     Shaun of the Dead

The interesting part about this movie is that its plot was revealed in the beginning, with the following dialogue.

“We’ll have a bloody Mary first thing, a bite at the King’s Head, a couple at the Little Princess, a stagger when they pretend to be zombies down to the bar for shots.”

SPOILER ALERT: Mary gets impaled and dies. Philip is bitten, and David and Di are the couple with a little princess called Liz, who killed zombies together.

You’ll see, when the chips are down these civilized people will eat each other. Ya see I’m not a monster, I was just ahead of the curve.”

You are Special, Don’t Let Anyone Tell You Otherwise

You are Special, Don’t Let Anyone Tell You Otherwise

You are Special, Don’t Let Anyone Tell You Otherwise

The society tells us that if we are a certain way, only then are we special, perfect, worthy, beautiful, and amazing. We base our worth on what people think about us, the way they treat us, and the way they see us. We criticize our self for not meeting the societal standards. Our self-esteem and self-confidence is shattered, and we start comparing it with other people’s worth in those aspects as well.

But is that all we are? Are we only beautiful if our skin is a certain shade? Are we only intelligent if our grade is A? Are we only successful if our job gives us a 6-figure pay? Are we only special if we act a certain way? I don’t think so. I think everyone is extraordinary in their own way. We all our incredible, beautiful, strong, kind, and awesome, and we should not let the society or anyone else tell us otherwise!

There are times that unfair criticism of people makes us question ourselves. Is there something wrong with me that they treated me that way? However, if you know how to deal with unfair criticism, you are less likely to take it personally and let it affect you because you have a control over your emotions and the way you feel. Here are a few simple ways to effectively deal with unfair criticism, so it does not affect your peace of mind.

It’s not about you

Rather than questioning yourself after others treat you badly, why not question their aim, motivation, and happiness level? We need to learn how to separate ourselves from the unfair criticism that is directed our way. This is not about who we are as humans, it is about the judgment others make on the basis of our behavior, actions, or appearance in a certain situation. It is relatively easier to let go and move on when the self and criticism are detached.

Don’t Let your Self-Esteem Take the Blow

We should not let the unfair criticism of people lower our confidence or self-worth. What people think of you represents their own shortcomings rather than who you are as a person. So rather than thinking negative about it continuously, you can try and incorporate positive and rational thinking patterns, to make yourself believe that your actions were justified.

Do not retaliate

Retaliation is a fight and flight response naturally built within us. We do not like people getting away with ruining our day. We prefer saying something back to make their day worse too. But what will be the difference between both the individuals then? So control your anger because no matter what, you cannot control the behaviors of others. What you can do is control your reaction towards them. As they say, “No one can make you feel bad about yourself without your consent.” So avoid such people who threaten to ruin your peace of mind.

Decide for yourself whose opinion matters and whose does not. If you know yourself well enough, then you will not give a second thought to what other people have to say. Just be yourself, and make wise choices!

“The most intriguing people you will encounter in this life are the people who had insights about you, that you didn’t know about yourself.”  ~  Shannon L. Alder

“And like flowers in the fields, that make wonderful views, when we stand side-by-side in our wonderful hues..

We all make a beauty so wonderfully true.
We are special and different, and just the same, too!So whenever you look at your beautiful skin, from your wiggling toes to your giggling grin…Think how lucky you are that the skin you live in, so beautifully holds the “You” who’s within.”  ~  Michael Tyler, The Skin You Live In

Some things that SEO companies don’t tell you

Some things that SEO companies don’t tell you

Some things that SEO companies don’t tell you

Search Engine Optimization, or simply SEO, is the practice of using best practices as prescribed the dominant search engines to get a web page higher up in the rankings, is crucial for every online business. After all, if potential customers can’t find your business via search, you don’t really exist in their eyes. For this purpose, a lot of businessmen place their complete trust in their SEO agencies blindly, often paying huge amounts of money. Beware, for if you aren’t careful, you could be working with people who might well be taking advantage of you.

“The SEO business is 80 percent scam. It’s very, very difficult to find a good firm.” says Peter Kent, a reputable internet marketing specialist.

Here are some basic things SEO consultants typically hide just to attract new clients.

Rankings are temporary

One fact most SEO consultants don’t want you to know is that SEO is an ongoing process, with rankings continuously fluctuating. They ask you to pay a handsome amount to get your site on the top, but as soon as the contract is over, you will end up back where you started in the rankings. Once you stop paying them, the contract is terminated you will again be at square one.

Poor Quality work

If your SEO firm figures you don’t really have a lot of understanding of how SEO is done, they may use blackhat tactics, using keywords in a manner that violates Google’s terms. They only disclose the rankings and results to you that are achieved by doing low quality work in a short span of time to get your check. This always, always backfires, ending up in your website being penalized severely later on.

SEO is not a technical skill

SEO clients brag and complicate the whole SEO Optimization as if it’s a very sophisticated skill to master, only to impress their clients. In reality, majority of these so-called SEO pros lack proper knowledge of Google’s search algorithms. It’s all about building connections and gaining attention on the web with a good amount of market research and building links with others.

SEO takes time

Many SEO companies hide the fact that there is a lot of time required to improve the rankings and work gradually to make a spot on top by increasing traffic. They promise instant results just to attract clients by doing low quality work, stuffing keywords in content and similar tactics to fool search bots. This never lasts.

Google demands high quality content for your rankings hence the long term and proper way of promoting your site is via ethical means. Avoidance of unnecessary keywords and making biased contracts with agencies should be avoided at all costs.

Is your job sucking your soul? Here is what you should do

Is your job sucking your soul? Here is what you should do

Is your job sucking your soul? Here is what you should do

It’s actually inevitable. After working for a while at any place, you eventually get tired of your job and start hating it. Every job comes with its downsides – that is why they call it ‘work’.
But if it’s really serious and your job is literally sucking the life out of you and you lose a bit of yourself everyday you head to work, know that you aren’t the only one. No matter how awful the job is, you can always find ways to cope with this situation and stay happy.

Is your job sucking your soul? Here is what you should do….

Make Changes

You always have a choice and you can always make things better, if not perfect, and you can definitely improve your current situation a bit. A little change in your work routine can be very helpful. You can change your role, switch departments, try working with different people – this will be a healthy change for you to disengage a little from your daily loathsome routine.

Just focus your energy on getting the tasks done and disengage yourself from office politics and energy-draining acquaintances that do you and your career no favor. Don’t take things too personally, and like they say “Don’t sweat the small stuff”.

So, do you consider your job exhausting and unsatisfying? Welcome to the club. You have to compartmentalize and be strict about separating your personal life from your work life. When you leave your work and head home, leave it mentally as well as physically.

Resist negativity. Keep looking for the positives. You can make a list of the positive aspects of your job and going through it could really help overcome the difficulty. Anything that makes you smile about your job, make sure you acknowledge and take advantage of it.

Look for the perks

Look hard for all the perks you can find that your job offers and take advantage of them whenever possible. Whether it’s the friendly environment or the flexible hours, turn your job into something that provides you with more than just a paycheck.

Work to live, don’t live to work

Always remember these words: when you work, be productive, but know when to take a break. Don’t overwork yourself to the extent that you may end up falling sick and face serious health issues. Don’t let your job take its toll on you.

Learn to cope

Every job comes with stress. The best thing you can do is learn how it affects you and in what ways you can deal with it and cope well. You can take up a hobby, start meditation, etc; just try anything that makes you feel better and you will naturally find yourself less inclined to pass judgment on your job and being unhappy all the time.

Bring things you love to work

You can boost your passion by doing what you love along with you. It could be something that you enjoy doing in your free time, like a crossword puzzle book perhaps, or you could bring along plants and family pictures to decorate your cubicle. These little changes can do wonders to improve your mood.

Take care of yourself

Never underestimate the importance of taking care of yourself. It’s easy to blame your work for your unhappiness but in most cases the actual problem lies within yourself. If you feel like every job sucks then the problem is actually with you. You could be clinically depressed and getting rid of your current job might not be the solution to your dissatisfaction. Make sure you get enough sleep, or your diet is well balanced. Exercise, sleep, socializing and taking good care of both your physical and mental needs make a job more bearable.

Even after trying everything if you’re still not happy with your job and you find that it is sucking the life out of you, then the last option is to quit and find a new place where you will love doing the work and it will be appreciated.

The 3 Challenges That You Have To Face When You Stand Alone

The 3 Challenges That You Have To Face When You Stand Alone

The 3 Challenges That You Have To Face When You Stand Alone

Standing alone for something that you believe in is not easy. In most of the cases, you will be left vulnerable. You might make mistakes and not everyone will agree with the decisions that you make or your stance. The challenges are hefty but you are the one to decide whether standing for something, be it alone, is worth it or not. Here are some of the challenges that people who have to stand alone face:

1.     You Face Ridicule And Criticism

Ridicule and criticism can come from people due to many reasons. It is either that they are jealous of the stance that you have taken, they do not believe in the cause that you are fighting for, or that they think that you do not have what it takes to stand alone. People who criticize and ridicule often do so when they themselves are not capable of standing alone or they criticize just for the sake of criticizing. In some of the cases, criticism and ridicule can cause major stress to the person standing alone.

2.     The People Closest To You Stop Believing In You

Often times, when you stand alone for something, the people who were once close to you will distance themselves from you because they think that you will fail. And since most people are insecure themselves, they would not want to associate with a failure. However, one can only tell who their real friends are at a time when they are struggling. People who leave you when you need them the most were never your friends to begin with, and so you can automatically filter them out.

3.     You May Start Questioning Your Decision

When people have to stand alone for something, they might have little to no support, especially in the beginning when they are just starting out. As human beings, we often become isolated and vulnerable in such situations and start questioning whether we will even succeed with the path that we have taken or not. However, this vulnerability is normal, and it is up to you to decide whether you want to succumb to this or not.

As you can see, there are many challenges that people have to face when they decide on standing alone. However, when you take up a cause, you need to decide whether standing alone for it is worth it or not. If it is worth it, then you cannot let people bully you into stepping down, because if you do, then you were never strong enough for it to begin with.

Additionally, people also need to remember that it takes a lot of courage to stand alone, and therefore people who do stand alone for something should be given their due respect, even if others do not believe in the cause that they are standing up for. Once human beings learn to respect one another, the world will be a much better place.

“Difficulties strengthen the mind, as labor does the body.” ~ Seneca

“When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.” ~ Paulo Coelho

“The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.” ~ Randy Pausch

How To Defend Yourself: 5 Moves You Must Master

How To Defend Yourself: 5 Moves You Must Master

How To Defend Yourself: 5 Moves You Must Master

Kung fu is something that everyone wishes to learn. After all, everyone would like to throw in moves like Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris. However, not many of us have the time on our hands to attend training sessions. This blog will tell you about 5 simple techniques that you can learn and use when faced with a fight or a difficult situation.

1.     Accept Death In Order To Survive

Here’s something that will be extremely useful for you at the time that you are getting attacked. You need to accept the possibility of dying. When you accept that possibility, only then will you be free to make wiser decisions during such a situation. If you do not accept such a possibility in your head, then you will use all of your energy into panicking for your life and nothing else.

2.     Attack When Being Attacked

When someone attacks you, your first instinct will be to run away. However, this will only come in handy when the attacker is at a considerable distance from you. Instead of running, you should advance. This is because your attacker will likely feel superior to you if they feel that you are scared of them. When you confront them however, you will most likely surprise them and will be able to do more damage than expected.

3.     Make Use Of Your Head

A human skull can be quite powerful and it can be used as defense. It is a lot better for you to be bashing your head into the nose of an opponent once as opposed to punching it several times. Since the skull is hard and easy to move, you can cause a significant amount of damage to your opponent without putting in that much effort. Headbutts are especially great when an attacker grabs hold of you from behind. There is no point in attacking them with your elbows. In fact, it will waste your energy as well as time.

4.     Everything Can Be Used As A Weapon

Pepper sprays, knives, and guns are not the only weapons that you have available to you. In fact, you can use anything that is shaper and harder than your fingers and knuckles. This is why you should always carry something that you can use as a weapon such as a pen or an umbrella. Stones from the ground can always be useful. One thing to remember is that pointy objects need to be stabbed inside the soft tissue whereas hard objects need to be smashed against the bone.

5.     Aim For The Weak Spots

Any attacker will most likely have weak spots that you can attack, no matter how tough they seem. The following body parts can be aimed at: nose, eyes, throat, groin, kneecaps, and ears.

These tricks are great at helping you overcome such situations. Remember not to think of yourself as any less than the attacker, and you are bound to show them how well you can fight them off.

“Now climb, young grasshopper, so your Kung Fu won’t be weak.” ~ Ilona Andrews

“The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want for nothing. He makes me lie down in the green pastures. He greases up my head with oil. He gives me kung-fu in the face of my enemies. Amen” ~ Stephen King

“He invented Kung Fu when translated to English means method by which short, bald guys can kick the bejeezus out of you.” ~ Christopher Moore

“Men don’t ask other men if they’re getting home OK, they just assume that beneath the frail, weak exterior lurks a muscle-building kung fu master fearless of ever being mugged.” ~ Kate Griffin

“If you trust yourself, any choice you make will be correct. If you do not trust yourself, anything you do will be wrong.

Spending Time With Positive People Uplifts You

Spending Time With Positive People Uplifts You

Spending Time With Positive People Uplifts You

Negative people are your greatest enemies when it comes to positive thinking. It is often said that you will develop the same level of energy as the people you hang out with on a daily basis, and this couldn’t be truer. There are people who do nothing but complain about their lives all the time and at the same time remain negative about other people’s ideas as well. Such people are energy drainers instead of uplifters and therefore, you should be very careful about how much of your time you should give to them.

The Benefits Of Positive People

Positive people are the greatest source of happiness since they only work to spread positive energy all around, even in an atmosphere that is filled with negativity. Such people uplift you instead of dragging you down with how they think and the ideas that they present to you. Additionally, their energies will make sure that you only absorb positive attitudes and emotions from them.

When positive people listen to different ideas, they are sure to respond with constructive criticism as opposed to bashing those ideas down. They will make sure to give you various solutions and ideas that they think will work into making your idea a reality. This way, they encourage your decisions and make sure that you realize your true potential instead of simply letting you know that you idea will not work no matter what.

Be The Best Version Of You!

How Positive People Will Impact Your Life

Surrounding yourself with positive people will help in making sure that you remain positive about your life as well, just like how they are positive with their life, no matter how many difficulties you are being faced with. Positive people are the ones that will help you in realizing your dreams as well as your full potential. They will transform you into someone that you will love and they will give you the courage and the capability to do anything in the world.

The way positive people lead their lives is a great example of how you should be leading yours as well. They carry on with their tasks without paying much attention to the negativities all around them and make sure that whatever they do in this life is well worth their time. They also work to make sure that they utilize all the time and resources that they have in the best possible manner.

“Step out of the crowd of average people. Enter that game and change the values on the scoreboard.” ~ Israelmore Ayivor
