Running Your Own Race… Think back to a time in your life

Running Your Own Race… Think back to a time in your life Running Your Own Race… Think back to a time in your life when you tried something new. When I was a teenager I volunteered to work the water station at a 10k race. It was called the “Heaven Can Wait” 10k run and ironically, it was sponsored by the local cemetery. My job was to pass out water to the runners. I remember being so excited to see all the different kinds of people who passed by and grabbed a cup of water. Some ran past, some walked past and a few wheeled past. I saw so many types of people doing it, I thought maybe I can do it too! So the next year I signed up for the race and gave it a shot. Back then I didn’t do much to prepare except jog around my neighborhood.>>>

WALKING THE DOG Would you like to stretch your legs?

WALKING THE DOG Would you like to stretch your legs? A WOMAN was flying from Melbourne to Brisbane. Unexpectedly, the plane was diverted to Sydney along the way. The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft the plane would re-board in 50 minutes. WALKING THE DOG Would you like to stretch your legs? Everybody got off the plane except one lady who was blind. The man had noticed her as he walked by and could tell the lady was blind because her seeing eye dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of her throughout the entire flight. He could also tell she had flown this very flight before because the pilot approached her, and calling her by name, said, ‘Kathy, we are in Sydney for almost an hour. Would you like to get off and stretch your legs?’ The blind lady replied, ‘No thanks, but maybe Buddy would>>>

So… What’s wrong with us?

So… What’s wrong with us? Glenn V. Cunningham (August 4, 1909 – March 10, 1988) was an American distance runner and athlete considered by many the greatest American miler of all time. He received the James E. Sullivan Award as the top amateur athlete in the United States in 1933.    So… What’s wrong with us?  This story should be printed and left where you will see it often – and then everytime you come across a project you think you cannot successfully complete read this story again. Eight-year-old Glenn Cunningham raced into a burning schoolhouse to rescue his big brother. When he regained consciousness five hours later, his brother was dead and Glenn’s horribly burned legs lay limp and without feeling. Specialists urged his parents to have Glenn’s legs amputated immediately – he would never walk again – but Glenn pleaded against them. Even though the toes of his>>>

No charge for love

No charge for love  A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups. And set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of little boy. ‘Mister,’ he said, ‘I want to buy one of your puppies.’ ‘Well,’ said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, ‘These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money.’         The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer. ‘I’ve got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?‘ ‘Sure,’ said the farmer. And with that>>>

Excuse me, Are you Jesus?

Excuse me, Are you Jesus? This is really powerful and makes one think!!!!     A few years ago a group of salesmen went to a regional sales convention in Chicago . They had assured their wives that they would be home in plenty of time for Friday night’s dinner. In their rush, with tickets and briefcases, one of these salesmen inadvertently kicked over a table which held a display of apples. Apples flew everywhere. Without stopping or looking back, they all managed to reach the plane in time for their nearly missed boarding.      ALL BUT ONE !!! He paused, took a deep breath, and experienced a twinge of compassion for the girl whose apple stand had been overturned.      He told his buddies to go on without him, waved good-bye, told one of them to call his wife when they arrived at their home destination and explain his taking>>>

Tough Times Never Last; Tough People Do

Tough Times Never Last; Tough People Do Author: Robert Schuller My daughter Carol lost her leg in a motorcycle accident in 1978. At the time, Mrs. Schuller and I were in Korea. On the long trip back to Iowa, I searched for the right thing to say. What would my first words to Carol be? When we arrived at the hospital, I was shocked. Carol lay in her bed in intensive care, her body bruised, broken, and disfigured. But her spirits were whole and healthy. Immediately she solved the problem of what to say by speaking first: “I know why it happened, Dad. God wants to use me to help others who have been hurt.” It was this spirit that carried her through seven months of hospitalization, intravenous feedings, and consequent collapsed veins. This positive attitude gave her the courage to fight a raging infection that threatened her life and>>>

Yoder the Amish Beagle

Yoder the Amish Beagle   Beagles are great dogs.  They are bred to chase rabbits.  But if there aren’t any rabbits around they will chase cats, cars, and boys.  And if they are really bored Beagles have even been known to chase girls.  Now the nice thing about beagles is that they are short and they stay short all their lives so they are just the right size for little boys.  They are brown and black and white and they have long ears that flop when they run. We wanted one.  One day, driving the back roads in the Amish country of Ohio, we found one.  We bought him from a nice Amish farmer so we named him Yoder. Yoder loved to romp with the kids.  We took him with us on our full-moon walks and we even took him fishing once.  We had a day of it.  He ran>>>
