Sunday’s a comin’!

Sunday’s a comin’!

Easter is the greatest celebration of the Christian faith. On Easter, we celebrate the event that sets Christianity apart from all other religions and cultural traditions of the world. It’s the day that our God rose from the dead. And He’s still alive today! This collection of poems, video quotes and verses speaks to the power and beauty of Jesus’ resurrection. Sunday’s a comin’!

“6 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  ~ John 3:16 (NIV)

I want to share a poem that paraphrases a sermon described by Tony Campolo in an Easter message.  It reflects the truth of the Easter message, that while there is deep sorrow reflecting the pain that Jesus Christ suffered on Good Friday, there is even a greater hope because we know that Easter Sunday is coming.

Sunday’s a comin’!

It’s Friday
Jesus is praying
Peter’s a sleeping
Judas is betraying
But Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
Pilate’s struggling
The council is conspiring
The crowd is vilifying
They don’t even know
That Sunday’s comin’

The disciples are running
Like sheep without a shepherd
Mary’s crying
Peter is denying
But they don’t know
That Sunday’s comin’

The Romans beat my Jesus
They robe him in scarlet
They crown him with thorns
But they don’t know
That Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
See Jesus walking to Calvary
His blood dripping
His body stumbling
And his spirit’s burdened
But you see, it’s only Friday
Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The world is winning
People are sinning
And evil’s grinning

It’s Friday
The soldiers nail my Saviour’s hands
To the cross
They nail my Saviour’s feet
To the cross
And then they raise him up
Next to criminals

It’s Friday
But let me tell you something
Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The disciples are questioning
What happened to their King
And the Pharisees are celebrating
That their scheming
Has been achieved
But they don’t know
It’s only Friday
Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
He’s hanging on the cross
Feeling forsaken by his Father
Let alone and dying
Can nobody save him?
Ooooh It’s Friday
But Sunday’s comin’

It’s Friday
The earth trembles
The sky grows dark
My King yields his spirit

It’s Friday
Hope is lost
Death has won
Sin has conquered
And Satan’s just a laughin’

It’s Friday
Jesus is buried
A soldier stand guard
And a rock is rolled into place
But it’s Friday
It’s only Friday
Sunday’s a comin’!

Many of you will know, and if you didn’t you now do….. that worship in song restores your soul.  The amount of times you read God’s Word, listen to a sermon, hear a devotion, a song can pop into your head and you may find great inspiration from that.

GLORY AWAITS

Blood‐bought children who are suff’ring
It won’t be long, It won’t be long
Storm‐tossed pilgrim, if you’re struggling
It won’t be long, It won’t be long
Though your flesh is now decaying
It won’t be long, It won’t be long
A new body God is making
It won’t be long, It won’t be long

CHORUS
Glory awaits
For all God’s redeemed
Glory awaits
And we’ll be free

All you saints now bound in prison
It won’t be long, It won’t be long
Here’s your freedom: Christ is risen
It won’t be long, It won’t be long
We are longing for Christ’s appearing
It won’t be long, It won’t be long
Tears will vanish when we see Him
It won’t be long, It won’t be long

CHORUS
Glory awaits
For all God’s redeemed
Glory awaits
And we’ll be free
