Spread Happiness, Get Happiness

Spread Happiness, Get Happiness

Spread Happiness, Get Happiness

Once, there was a man who wanted to know the secret to becoming the happiest man on earth. He treated this quest of his like a treasure-hunt and searched the whole world for answers that could satisfy him. However, he never found an answer. Do you know why he could never bring an end to his quest?

Perhaps, the story of a little doggie might lend us some perspective.

Once upon a time, there was a happy little doggie that lived in a small town. The little doggie was always wagging its tail and running around happily. He was very content in his own world. His ears were always raised as he happily listened to the sounds of the chirping birds and other melodies that nature sang for it.

One day, he decided to find other happy doggies like himself. He started his search and he learned that there was a house in the town that had many doggies like him. He embarked on a journey to the house and soon reached it. He sprinted up the stairs of the house and peeked excitedly inside to see if he had reached the right place.

Inside the house, he saw a hundred doggies smiling and playing like him. His own tail started wagging and he became even happier. He really liked this place. As he was going back to his home, he thought to himself, “Wow, what a great place! I will surely come back here tomorrow!”

In the same town, there lived another dog. He was very sad. His tail hung low and his ears were always turned down. He was always running about mournfully. He growled at the passers-by and he barked at everyone with hostility. He felt as if there was no happiness in the world.

He too decided to go and search for other dogs. They might be happier than him. He had heard about a house in the town with many dogs. He decided to go and search for it. After a long and hard struggle, he finally found the house and clambered up its staircase in low spirits.

He peered inside the door to see if he had come at the right place. Surely, he found 1000 dogs looking back at him. However, none of them looked any happier to him. In fact, all the dogs looked just as grim and angry as he was. They all growled at him. That dog was really disappointed.

As he returned to his home, he thought to himself, “Oh, what an awful house this is! I shall never return here.”

Moral: spread happiness, get happiness.

Did you get why the man seeking happiness never found it? Happiness is the kind of emotion that is reflected in others from our own personality. If we are happy, we don’t have to go looking for it! The old man looked everywhere except inside his own self.

If you want to be happy, you MUST spread happiness around you instead of seeking it in unlikely places!
