What Hollywood Can Teach Us About Inspiration?
Hollywood inspires us through its movies, storylines, and actors. Even though there are some actors who’s struggle may inspire us, it’s better to stick to movies, for obvious reasons. Hollywood, as of late, has been bombarded by reality culture, involving obscene poses, crude language, and super conscious body image. We are looking at you Kim Kardashian and the clan. If you want to look for inspiration, let’s just say it’s safer to go with movies, which use themes of love, acceptance, strength, and perseverance through difficult times. Some inspirational movies that you ought to see and that come highly recommended by us include:
1. The Pursuit of Happyness, The True Story of Chris Gardner
Chris Gardner is the story’s main protagonist whose struggle the actor, Will Smith depicted quite well through his impressive acting abilities. The story depicts a family man who invests his life savings in a bone density scanner, only for the investment to fail.
With his wife gone, no money, and a young son to take care of, Chris doesn’t lose hope. He visits clinics to sell the scanner, sleeps in the bathroom, and takes an internship at a stockbroker firm. He challenges people in the firm that look down upon him and in the end, comes out a deserving winner. Chris gives inspiration to those who have a dream and tells them that in order to attain it; they should never quit pursuing it.
2. Cinderella Man, The True Story of James J. Braddock
James J. Braddock was a boxer who was known for his stupendous boxing abilities in the ring. He had surpassed many difficulties in the ring and knocked out many opponents, but lying in wait was the toughest difficulty that was yet to come. His life took a nosedive during the era of the Great Depression, but did he waver or show signs of weakness?
No, he didn’t, not the least bit. He went to great lengths to make sure that his family had a roof over their head, a bed to keep them warm, and food to eat. His sacrifices for his family paid off when he won the title of the World Heavy Weight Champion. This man taught us that there is nothing more important than family and that hard work pays off; you just have to be patient.
3. The Blind Side, The True Story of Michael Oher
Fans of football may know Michael Oher as the player that was drafted by the Tennessee Titans. His story goes beyond football and his superstar persona. Oher’s childhood wasn’t exactly picture perfect. With his brother in jail and his mother an addict, he bounced from one foster home to another his whole life, until Leigh-Anne and Sean Tuohy came into his life.
You can say that they were like angels sent from above to help him find his way. When they took the teen in and made him part of their family, they treated him no different from their own children. They paved him a path, which led to a glorious career in football. The film touched many people’s hearts, sending them a message about family and the existence of good people still present in today’s world.
Sometimes, watching movies that tell a tale of hardships and tough upbringing makes you feel grateful that you didn’t have to deal with that. For people who face these hardships, it gives them a sense of inspiration that life can change; you just need hope and will to make it happen.
