All of us are aware that how you start your morning determines the rest of your day. Generally, if you have a good start, the day will roll out well. On the other hand, if you start your morning with grunts, groans, complaints and sulk, be assured of a bad day ahead. What you don’t know is that the power to make your morning good lies in your hands. Yes. This is how:
- Plan your day the previous night
Before retiring to bed, make a quick checklist of how your day will be. Make a list of what you did not achieve that day and specify if you will continue to pursue it the next day or any other day. Include any additions to the list. This will brief you on what you will do the following day and minimize the hustle of unnecessary movements. Therefore, when you’ll wake up, the mind is relaxed because the intentions of the day was made beforehand.
- Take some time
For most of us, we wake up to the sound of an alarm, throw the blankets away and jump right out of bed to the bathroom. This isn’t right. When you open your eyes, spend some five minutes to meditate. Think about the dream you had last night. Appreciate the fact that you have woken up healthy and safe. Some did not. Take a deep breath. Look around. Say good morning to your partner or your kid that you slept together maybe. This prepares you psychologically to face the day.
- Get something motivational
Reach out for that Bible, read a verse and pray. It guarantees protection throughout the day. It gives you the courage that everything you’ll do that day will be a success. If you are not that spiritual, go for a motivational quote or an inspirational book. Reading one page is enough. Go through your goals and take a second to fantasize how your future will be when you will have achieved them all. Do these before picking up your phone or a remote.
Since your body has been inactive all night, you need to get blood circulating in it. Stretching makes you to loosen up and increases your flexibility. It also reduces any back pains you might be having due to the quality of your mattress and improves your posture. All these gives you the energy you need for the day. Studies also show that it has the magical ability to make you feel good.
Smile! Because you do not own all the problems in the world. There are pressures, yes, and deadlines to meet but they are there to stay. Mourning about this every morning only shortens your lifespan. When you smile it gives you a positive attitude and makes your sunrise shine.
Have a good morning!
