With the continuity of increase in human wants and decrease in resources available, temptation to scrap off our leisure time and replace it with a more meaningful income generating activity creeps in. well that should not bother you anymore. You can still go about your hobby while gaining something from it. The following are some of the ways:
- Incorporate business in your hobby. Come up with a business idea of how to include business in your hobby. It should not be big or main event but just small to get you something. For instance, if your hobby is travelling around the world, identify an object that is associated with one city, buy it and go selling in those other cities. They might find it amazing since it is not available in their country and buy them. These can be bracelets, necklaces, dresses or utensils.
- Add value to your hobby. Do some kind of specialization of your hobby. Takes some studies about it. Practice it often until you have mastered it so well. Do it passionately such that if someone is wanted who is perfect in it to be hired or do some contracts, they will pick on you. It can also earn you some promotion at your place of work. A good example of such a hobby is that of collecting artefacts. Do some background history of all that you collect then you can use it to explain to people but charging a fee for this.
- Widen your hobby. You can always increase the boundaries of your hobby. Magnify it to be bigger for you to be able to fetch something. Think big and get your ideas moving. Let’s take your hobby to be helping out orphans or visiting children’s homes. You can plan to open one yourself then solicit some donors to fund it. Whatever is in excess is yours!
- Get creative with your hobby. Come up with resourceful ways in which your hobby could help you beyond making you happy. For example look out for those other people who share in your hobby. Best people will be those whom you do the same kind of hobby. Mobilize them and form a group. In the group, try and come up with welfare for members. It can be collecting certain amount of savings every month to be used in case of any emergency affecting a member. Better still, you may decide and open a collective business where you will employ the manger and personnel to run it. Yours will only be to go and check the money in the bank.
