The Pros and Cons of Love

Have you been hit by a cupid’s arrow? Has being struck by the cupid’s arrow resulted in butterflies in the stomach, rapid beatings of the heart, quiver in your voice, and hearts in your eyes, when he or she comes near you or talks to you?

If all of these feelings resonate with you, you are head over heels in love (a little cliché, but true). All you can think about is being near that person at all hours of the day (a slight exaggeration, but you know what we mean). Don’t forget that love isn’t a bed of flowers, but it has its pros and cons as well. Following are the pros and cons of falling in love:

The Pros and Cons of Love

1.      Holding Hands

Pro:  When your hand fits perfectly with his or hers, you know you are meant to be together. When your significant other gives your hand a soft squeeze or puts an overprotective arm across you, you feel safe. It’s as if they are your own personal body guard.

Con:  In their absence, you feel incomplete, lost, and alone. In the tragic event that the two of you break up, you will never be able to fill in the gap, until another hunk or beauty comes along.

2.      Constant Interaction

Pro:  When you are sitting alone in your house, bored out of your mind, there will be only one person that can fill the empty void—The love of your life. They will take time out of their busy schedule and make an honest effort to give you company. Their presence in your life will be all the entertainment you need.

Con:  If they live far like in another country or city, you will find it harder to cope with their absence. Talking on the phone and videoconferencing will not be enough to satisfy your desire to see their face or listen to their voice. You may find yourself munching on chips and watching movies as you think about them. Most likely, the relationship won’t be able to last for the long haul.

3.      The Move In

Pro:  Moving in with each other is a huge step in any relationship and is considered a milestone for a couple. It shows that both people are devoted to each other and have gained a complete understanding of each other’s wants and needs.

Con:  The fact about moving is that it can get messy, like literally messy. You may be a clean freak and your beloved might not be. Your closet, your bedroom, bathroom, and the kitchen may look like a pigsty. Constant arguments and few resolutions later, one person may be moving out.

4.      The Comfort of the Bed

Pro:  You may be used to sleeping next to the dog when you came late from work. However, with someone to keep you warm at night, you may no longer need to hug your dog. You will come home to your significant other soundlessly sleeping in the bed or maybe waiting up for you. Moreover, if they are a romantic, a candle light dinner may be waiting for you at home.

Con:  When you spend years of sleeping next to the same person, you feel a longing for them when they are not there. In the instance a break up happens, you may be bound to suffer from sleepless nights and insomnia. Love experts say having tons of ice cream, chocolate, and a good laugh with your buddies may help you overcome the pain of a breakup.

5.      Personal Bouts of Laughter

Pro:  When two people spend time with each other on a daily basis, inside jokes automatically take shape. In a crowded room when your eyes meet, both of you automatically laugh, as you are the only two people in the room that understood the inside joke.

Con:  When that person isn’t present in your life, the inside jokes fall flat and are no longer funny. The feeling of realization that this was your joke will make you feel gutted inside.

The pros of falling in love will make you go out in the world searching for love, but the cons may throw you off. However, love conquers all so it can conquer the cons as well.
