6 WAYS TO DEAL WITH COLD AND FLU

Colds and flu can cause discomfort and interfere with our daily routine. We can never evade it since they are highly contagious. Both are viral infections hence they have no cure yet. Flu presents more severe symptoms of cold. Consequently, both are normally confused.

  1. Get the vaccines.

This is the very first step to contain them. Ensure that all your kids below six months are administered the vaccines to prevent them from contracting the diseases in case they come in contact with them. If every family could do that, then infection rate will drop consequently, those getting sick as a result will be minimal hence you will less likely get any.

  1. Take lots of fluids and fruits

Colds and flu make one to lose appetite. If you don’t eat anything chances are, you’ll remain weak even to fight the diseases. Taking a lot of fluids will replace this. Warm water and fresh juices makes it easier for you to loosen mucous. It also prevents dehydration since your body dries up due to the high fever you have. Take enough fruits and vegetables more than ever before. You’ll see the magic!

  1. Practice Hygiene

The two are highly contagious. You might never defeat it if keeps jumping from one family member to another or from one neighbor to another. It will always go round and round. Three remedies have proven to be effective; arresting it, pinning it and destroying it. Always arrest it by using a handkerchief or tissue when you cough. Pin it by disposing it appropriately and destroy it by burning the rubbish that were used to catch it and by washing hands very often since their germs remains on surfaces like doorknobs for up to 3 weeks!

  1. Take pain relievers

As a result of incessant cough, painful aches and joints, it is advisable to take pain relievers such as ibuprofen. They are effective as opposed to antibiotics because viruses do not respond to them.

  1. Get rest and eat well

Since the body will be mostly weak from the aches and dehydration, you are to stop punishing it with extra work and/or pressure. Resting is part of the recovery. 2-3 days off from job will do. It will not only get you maximum rest but will help you not to spread it to other workmates. Loss of appetite is common. Chicken soup has been recommended for many. It has been found out that apart from having anti-inflammatory possessions, it also clears the nasal passages.

  1. Visit a pharmacy or shop online

Take a walk to the nearest pharmacy so that they can prescribe some medication for you. Tamiflu has been proved to reduce the sick days by one. Of great help are also the cough suppressants and expectorants. Vitamin C is readily available. Get it!
