3 Common Reasons Why Your Happiness Isn’t Working

(And How to Fix It)

Trapped inside everyone is an unhappy person who is trying to mask his or her unhappiness with a smile. When tears fill the enclosed glass around them, it shatters, revealing the person’s true identity. Why is the person trying to hide his or her pain?

That person fears that he or she might get hurt again. Is there a way for unhappy people to find their happiness again? Most unhappy people share three common traits that they refuse to let go, worrying, holding a grudge, and being in control. The quick fix to releasing your grip on these traits is stated below:

1.     Stop Being a Manic Worrywart

You let you your mind travel to thinking and imagining the worst scenarios. At the slightest notion of worry, you become frantic and people have to give you a cool glass of water to calm you down. Then the time comes when your worrywart behavior starts weighing you down.

Soon, you frown more than you smile. When your worries begin to close around you, suffocating you, you still remain aloof as to what is creating your depressing mood. You only have to look in the mirror to find out that it’s you.

How Can You Fix It?

Learn to take pleasure in all the little things in life and say thanks for the fortunes life has given you so far. Look towards the future with an optimistic outlook. Perceive unfortunate events with a grain of salt. Try not to let your worries overshadow you and take over your life, instead learn to remain happy by keeping your thoughts and attitude positive.

2.     Stop Being a Control Freak

People that let the slightest detail get them all hot and bothered need to take a chill pill. These types of people are characterized as control freaks that don’t know how to relinquish control. For them, everything needs to be perfect, from the clothes right down to the shoes.

When someone tries to step into their territory, the beast in them roars, demanding they step down, as the role of the control freak is already taken. Even though you achieve perfection in the end, you still don’t get any peace of mind.

How Can You Fix It?

Learn to share control with others around you. Loosen your grip on the scepter and break it into pieces to give to others. Stop analyzing other people’s behavior and pointing out their imperfection, but take a minute to analyze your behavior. You will discover that your demanding behavior is one of the main factors for your sullen mood. For once, stop trying to control everything, sit back and let others take over from where you left off.

3.     Stop Holding Grudges

Years ago, someone hurt you with his or her actions or words. The memory of that day still remains vivid in your thoughts. Maybe, they posted a video of you scratching your butt in public or as a prank; they shaved your head and posted in on Facebook. Since then, the mention of their name riles up all the hate and frustration that you have bottled up inside of you. Your whole day is ruined just because their name was spoken out aloud.

How Can You Fix It?

You need to learn to move past events that happened years ago or recently and erase them from your mind. You need to forgive the ill-timed actions of friends, family members, and strangers. Even if the person who wronged you in the past hates you as much as you hate them, you should still forgive them.

When you imply the quick fixes to eliminate the traits that make you unhappy, you will feel lighter as if a weight was lifted off your shoulders.
